Bio

Degree in Psychology from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Diploma in Graphic Design from CENP. Diploma in Editorial Illustration by ESDIP. Master in Art Direction at CICE, directed by Carmen Collado.

Freelance Designer, Art and Creative Director, in the last 15 years I have performed countless projects in the position of Creative and Communication Director, for national and international companies and externally for various advertising agencies.

Specialised in advertising communication, conceptualisation and editorial design, with a special interest in creative writing, illustration and digital techniques have inspired works such as “Context”, “One Sense”, “Moons” or “Nourish to Flourish”, where the use of new techniques and more artistic formats reveals a more personal vision.

Flor Orjales

Personal concept of editorial design.

At the same time, I have developed several exhibitions and artistic projects in Spain, UK, Germany, France and USA such as “Dual, Words in Art”, “Open Hearth”, “In Pain We Trust” or “Roten Faden”, always combining my activity as a creative in advertising with the more purely artistic production.

In fact, advertising is very present in my personal perspective on the creative process, where more characteristically advertising media and techniques appear in my photography, illustration, painting or in creative writing itself, exerting an enormous influence on conceptualisation and artistic production, always in search of new languages and media through which to express the unstable worlds we inhabit, fleeting, chaotic or dramatic.

Which cohabit within a reality as simple and eloquent as it is cruel and excessive.

Then art, advertising, literature, music… blend together, bringing out the plasticity of the content and the aesthetics of the message, opening the way to a new creative process in which conceptual development acquires an unusual importance, bringing a certain theatricality to the compositions.

Not as isolated pieces or entities, but as part of a whole, as chapters of a work, of a visual novel, with its presentation, its argument and its conclusion, sometimes creating serial or narrated compositions, in order to find a space where to assemble all the elements, the line and the word, the colour and the composition, the image and the meaning, for time to conjugate them and together they compose that artistic language, where continuity flows.

Advertising
As a designer, illustrator and creative director, I have developed numerous projects for companies such as Lufthansa, Star Alliance, Swiss Air, Almand & Tucci, Abegglen & Crawford, Xunta de Galicia, Pure Gaming or the Italian Chamber of Commerce. For the last two years, until now, as an art and creative director for the online TV channel Diverzity.

Editorial
Through creative writing, illustration, photography and mixed media, I have tried to find a more artistic and personal concept of editorial design, making books and publications such as “69 Bichos”, “Alenka Bilos y el Tren de Colores”, “Moons”, “One Sense”, “Nourish to Flourish” and currently in process “Las 20 maneras en que te amé” and “One of a Kind”.

Audiovisual
From the collaboration in the script of the independent short film “Road Song” directed by Binu Bashkar, for the Canadian production company Nite Vox, script of the short film “In Pain We Trust” for the exhibition of the same title, script of the short film and teaser “Abre los Ojos” for the project “Ahora Tú” by Creatividad Sensitiva, as well as visual scripts for “Mi Yo Salvaje”, “Sextropía”, “Los Caprichos de Toño” and several programmes created for the online platform Diverzity.

“Trees”

The natural cycle of life involves creation, destruction, or simple transformation. The degenerative process in the natural world amazes us with its simple beauty. The cycles happen, everything becomes and everything returns to begin, the harmony is imposed, the Earth breathes, the air flows. Altering a natural cycle, only one, involves only destruction.

¿Me pregunto cuál heredará mi camaleón?

“Parallel Realities” or “I leave to my chameleon one third of the free provision”.
There are endless perceptions of the same reality, as well as infinite possible realities within the same reality. I wonder which my chameleon will inherit?

Because only a living being is able to wade in the skin of another living being, to understand that we all have a common destiny.

“Call It Heart”
From the first moment of life, long before birth, the heartbeat accompanies us. Strange magic that makes it begin to do so, suddenly, without delay. We call it tireless engine, diligent worker who never asks for a jornal, which is never rewarded, which does not condition.

But how ungrateful is to imagine it as a simple random part within our machinery, to it, which loves without being loved, to which nothing receives, which only gives.

Although just as you remember, even if you forget it is there, although it hardly rests, it is always there, there it is. At least call it by its name, call it heart. There are more than one thousand reasons to not call it engine.

“Unleash Me”
Our choices make us free, or that’s what we want to believe. But so many times we lose ourselves drowning in freedom. I can’t really say what’s sadder, the absence of freedom or not knowing what to do with it. And what is more distressing, the deprivation of food or the plethora. The anorexia or bulimia. The anxiety or depression. The apathy or addiction.

We live entangled in prejudices about what we pretend to be, and between both tangle and folly, we forget what we are, we forget to be.

…our inspiration feeds on dreams, emotions, images, music… of words.
The word is the fluid medium through which our ideas flow.

To transmit them makes us free, expressing them makes us co-creators of the universe in which we live..

“Healing”
The healing process is inherent in the disease.

We take this process as something inevitable, want it to be brief, effective, harmless and painless.

But, to what extent the same healing process may reach to damage or cause even more pain.

“Curación” Photography, digital illustration on paper 50×50 cm

“Videorealidad”
Do we play? Do you really want to play? Are you sure of this?

I will ask you again. Now arm yourself, but only with patience, to understand what the game is this time.

““Videorealidad” Photography 75×100 cm

“Words Without Freedom”
There is nothing more painful than the captive emotions, which we imprison by our own condition.

The emotions deprived of freedom get sick without remedy, sometimes die and sometimes kill—both themselves and their own captor.

“IN PAIN WE TRUST”
We are who we are, nothing else.
We are trying to escape the pain under infinite masks,
an infinite number of ways,
rushing to forget
without recognizing just what we know,
without remembering how much we forget.
But we are only what we are — there is nothing else.

Without wishing to stay in extraneous issues,
without attempting to judge by what we do or we leave.
We are — which is not little.
We are equal and at the same time different.
We are what we assimilate:
the small things that they tell us,
what we find, and what we lose.
We are, nothing more than what we want.

“IN PAIN WE TRUST”
Somos lo que somos, nada más.
Pretendemos escapar al dolor bajo infinitas máscaras,
de infinitas maneras,
apresurándonos a olvidar,
